Beauty of Grey

The way a leaping leaf lusts for the ground
Suspended in wind’s delicate sway
Like the dancing dust in fingers of light
You’ve shown me the beauty of grey

‘Cause the world isn’t black and white
And the little things are the largest
Letting you in was easy
Letting you go now is the hardest

I live for those precious moments;
Midnight touches in the day
Stolen kisses shy from prying eyes
That exquisite beauty of grey

‘Cause the world isn’t white and black
And free hearts are never guarded
That’s why love is only for the brave
Dreamers, poets and the artists

I’ve smashed my glass heart’s promise
I’m wishing you would stay
For your lips to linger longer
On my lips for one more day

‘Cause the world isn’t black and white
And I’m addicted, by the way;
To you, these moments, to your infinite gift
To the bittersweet beauty of grey
